Who on this team is NOT under-rated?

Orr is not under-rated. Bowman is not under-rated.

Other than that, pretty much everybody. [Well, maybe press-box denizen Adam Graves is over-rated, for all of the total non-difference that makes.] Hell, even the GM under-rates Fedorov.;)

The advancing GM put together a fine team- and is a worthy laureate- but man, one or two tweaks in the composition of the voting-panel and this one could have gone the other way.

Has there ever been a higher-quality team that did not make the Final Four?

I would say most guys are pretty fairly rated. I would like to see an argument in favour of a specific player... you could change my mind!

I want to be sure to tread carefully/diplomatically here, since 1) I consider myself something of a visitor here, plus 2) I don't want to re-litigate an already determined series, and 3) I want to make a relevant distinction between ranking (i.e.: historic placing that a hack like me worked on in the 'top-100' project) and valuation (i.e.: what does a player bring to the rink in an All-Time-Draft context).

Two more things I wish to put on the table: first- I have considerable respect for anyone who takes up the time-sink of plunging into an ATD-project. Oh, I feel pretty comfortable with my rankings down to about 200+ or so- but ATDers pretty much empty out the HHoF AND the HoVG, and move on to skilled specialist supplementation before they wrap up.

Secondly (to address your point), it's not like YOU were without underrated players. In our project, I thought Bill Cook was underrated (34 overall). This was (I believe) a consequence of his delayed nomination. He was "field-promoted" once nominated-- which shows that once we started talking about him, we pretty much all saw how great he was. I think Roy Conacher is also underrated. He appeared at 190 on our aggregate list- and that feels somewhat low. [I just had a quick peek and saw you plucked him at 169. That seems like nice value (but Krutov at 161 strikes me as better value;)).

Perhaps I'll provide details about my heretical views concerning specific players sometime down-the-road-- but to me, Providence's most underrated-undervalued players are 1) Fedorov (to me, HoH's most underrated skater amongst those whose career consists primarily of NHL-activity [and second only to Bernie Parent {who missed to top-100} amongst ALL NHL-career players in underrating]). 2) Krutov (underrated imo, but more importantly, undervalued in this paradigm as his team-context seems to give him the best chance for success in a playoff-type format). 3) Hod Stuart (what? second-best player of his era- think he deserves better than 136 on the Aggregate-List). 4) Kharlamov (again, not so much for placing as ATD-context. The time to get rid of Kharlamov is the regular-season (or, of course, a willful attempt to injure, sometime), since once he gets to big stages, he's marquee-moment approved and take-over-game capable.
