Everyone who was living in Edmonton in the 80's knew someone who knew someone who knew one of the Oilers.

Kevin Lowe was brought in because they respected him as a really intelligent guy having gone to college.

Haha, I absolutely did not know that. Really eerie how much Gretzky's destiny was tied to this franchise one way or another. Even as a King it just had to be the game against the Oilers where he breaks Howe's record.

Always amazes me to watch these old video and see how much smaller the players equipment was. Not just the goalies, but everybody's. I wish they'd go back to that. The game was so much more wide open and exciting. It's a snoozefest by comparison today.
