Did Phil Esposito ever reach his '72 Summit Series level of play in the NHL?

I remember as a younger lad then I am now when Esposito got possession of the puck on a PK and killed the whole penalty himself by carrying the puck.

Here is probably a rather rare clip (?) of Espo when he needed to be in a hurry. NOT the slowest guy ever anyway?

part of the notion that Espo was slow is his size.

big guys like that always look slower than they really are. Big strides and a lumbering frame just look slower.

same reason little guys look faster than they are. short legs = more strides and the extra motion gives the impression of speed

Believe me, I know haha. Espo's just not a great skater. Doesn't mean he's a bag of trash...but that wasn't his strength. If he was a strong skater and had that pop to his stride it (well, would have been reflected there) would have been seen in his cruising speed...but it really wasn't.
