I can't speak for everybody, but I know I really just don't care anymore. I'll still follow the team, but the days of me taking time to watch a game in depth are pretty much done for this season. There's just no point in getting upset over it anymore. The results aren't going to change just because the scapegoat is gone.

Welcome to the club. I've been a member since the Calgary game. That was when I checked out for the year.

Keep Whitney up or at the very least make him the first call up from Albany.

I don't ever want ****slo getting a call up over him.

Maybe if he plays 25 more games and gets 10 more breakaways, he'll finally score a goal. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Welcome to the club. I've been a member since the Calgary game. That was when I checked out for the year.

I feel guilty and sad to add me to this list, kind of. Since i am in Germany, watching live games is not possible right now, when you work etc etc.
So, I follow the games the day after.
But since I follow other sports, too...it was hard to get all games.
Since the season is turning out to be this ******, I skipped some games and only watched the highlights. I feel kind of sad...but watching the game in full, while analysing and totally concentrating on it...is much less joy as the years before. this season is a let down.
But I am a Devils fan and you guys know me for one thing - be positive.
And I will not give up! This franchise will not give up!
Better days are coming, and I know they are.
I will root for them evey game I watch and I try to watch as many games as I can - cause in the end, it is all about support. Losing, winning...this doesnt matter. Being a fan means being supportive in good and bad days!!!

This might be the shortest GDT in many years.

Is it because it's New Year's Eve?

Pretty much (and the fact there was no GDT till two hours before the game)...I was at a party last night and only followed the game on Twitter. Even if I could have watched the game I probably wouldn't have since they never win in Detroit anyway, and I 'have' to watch both games this weekend being at them :P

Lou is so forthcoming in these press conferences about injuries I don't know what to make of it?

Like someone said the other night, cause we're so far out of it he doesn't care about showing transparency anymore

I don't really remember him being this forthright in 2006, or 2008...then again I don't remember us HAVING a lot of injuries both years while he was in charge.

me neither i think its recognition that its over etc... but lou has changed his ways slightly in some areas over the years...

i didn't really get to watch the game it was on tv where and i would check in here n there basically every time i took a peek the puck was in devils d zone,, so didn't really have to watch too much to know what result was going to be...... thankfully we did not earn a loser point here...lou please start trading soon

yes we should be in the positive stage now..... most if not all recognize the season is over, the coach everyone hated is gone, the gm is behind bench evaluating god knows what, whitney scoring was the only thing that came out of last nights game that was positive for me..good shot there

It was the perfect scenario.

Whitney scored his first goal, Larsson looked solid, and the Devils did not ruin their draft position.

Of course, i'm not saying that I'm rooting for the Devils to lose(some here have a problem with that) but let's be realistic here...This season is basically done for the Devils as far as Playoff Hopes go. All that "winning games" would do is give us a worse draft pick which is not what we need going forward.

during the game I'm into i root for them to win.... but as soon as game is over i am happy they lost. i don't see what the big deal is wanting them to lose who cares its an ahl team, the best thing for them is to lose....i personally starts watching a game and find myself cheering for them to win the game they are in, but it ends as soon as buzzer sounds... this team has not won back to back games in over a month or so...we need eichel... lose as much as you want devils

you can leave basically out of the sentence.... this team isn't capable of the kind of play it would take them to rebound...... there have been so many games where they have been held to like 15 shots or periods when they have had like 1 shot on goal.... thats all pete debeor was doing this year is the man did the best he could and he is paid to win, he nor god could get this team to win

it was actually relieving to see what looked like a competent offensive play from a forward in this system i almost broke down in tears when i saw that goal go in lol

Devils and Canes should get McDavid and Eichel. Sabres will likely pass us, and the Oilers dont deserve another ****ing top pick

I wonder what the Canes do.

They have Rask, Lindholm, both Staals (if they keep them), and Skinner up front, all of which can play center. I wonder if they want Hanifin instead.

My friend who is not a big hockey follower asked me to explain what it was like to watch the Devils. I told her it was like watching a car crash. Terrible but I can't look away. I figure that's been the story of the last few years, but this year especially.

the dropoff seems pretty big. taking Hanifin would be a mistake. thats like the guys in the mock trades who think Oilers take Eichel 1st over McD because they have RNH. just wont happen

No, Whitney is not going to be any good. Hes already quite old ...

Does well in the AHL but nothing special. 26 year old rookie

He will be better than ****slo though, who is the same age and on pace for fewer points than Tim Sestito once he gets to the amount of games Sestito has played.

Absolutely. Many people probably had plans and places to go. A weak Devils team isn't going to stop people from enjoying their New Years ha
