With Boston losing again (still no 5v5 goals). I think a win on the road against the Rags might actually be a bigger statement.

Rangers: Are a much better than Boston on offense, but one has to believe Boston is better defensively and has better goaltending...

Seeing Boston look bad in the next game does take a bit of wind out of the sails of the first 2 games. A good game here would keep driving the point home that the team isn’t bad.

Be watching to see how this defense holds up under its first real test.
The Rangers scored a whopping 7 more goals than the bruins last year. Let's not act like Boston isn't good offensively. All they were missing was Pastrnak (who is a difference maker) but we can counter that excuse with no Hischier Bratt or even Vatanen in our lineup.

Boston hasn't been good at all.
Pasternak's 48 goals from last season are missing from the lineup not mention Krug's 49 points. Marchand just got back from injury...That is not the same team as last year and probably the only team worse offensively in our division is us.

Last year -
48 goals for Paternak -
35 goals for Bratt/Hischier/Vatenan

Marchand looked pretty good scoring a goal and the shootout winner against us in game 1. He also looked good in game 2 with that primary assist on then penalty kill after out muscling Palmieri for that puck....Yes Krug is gone but he the fact is Boston is still a good offensive team despite not scoring a lot. Give the Devils credit for battling them good the first 2 games with the young lineup we have who are completely learning a new system under Ruff. If our PP wasn't dreadful it would of beeen a difference maker in one of the two games for sure.

Krug is a big loss for them as well IMO. This isn't last year. Note the ages of the players the Bruins rely on for O. The Bruins weakness was/is considered secondary scoring. Decline in their O is to be expected.

Saying that you think Bostons offense is not strong currently does not mean you think the Devils D is bad or that you are taking anything away from the Devils efffort in the first 2 games. We will see how they play against stronger offenses this season.

NYR already starting to look like TOR with that top heavy lineup. It's only going to get worse for them when they have to pay Fox, Zibby, Buch, and then Shesty over the next couple of seasons. They will really need Kakko and Lafreniere to outperform their ELCs over the next couple of years. The Rangers window is open now.
