I think it’s hard to assess everything this way though because of how badly we were playing out of the gate. Keep in mind he was on our de facto second line with Hughes and Gusev that was switched up almost immediately due to their tough stretch in that 3rd period.

Much of what has taken place since has been line shuffling to find something that works.

If we see this deeper into the season I’ll start to be more concerned.

I would be EXTREMELY concerned 'cause Bratt's vision and talent, and ability to navigate the puck in tight spaces, is too damn good for him to just be given so little ice time like he has.

These two wins definitely sedated this place.

We have nothing to argue about, but 4th liners and Jespers and Goose, and maybe Mueller.... No one is even mad at Vats this season yet...

Coleman btw had a fantastic shift, i think before the,Hughes PP. He was spinning, shaking players in the ozone, it was really solid work, made something out of an absolute nothing board play...

We have played 1 more game than 6 of the next 7 teams in front of us. The two teams directly behind us have played 3 fewer games. We haven't made up any ground and we are still in a pretty decent hole.
We are going to be playing catch up for a while.

It is nice to win a couple though.

He looked a little off today, but only a minor league coach would play a couple of minor league scrubs that much more than truly talented players.

Those scrubs you are referring to aren’t black holes defensively and are willing to play a physical game, something Gusev isn’t capable of doing.

We got ourselves an ultra soft offensive forward.

Whatever your feelings are about Corsi aside, Nikita Gusev has the 4th worst CF% in the ENTIRE LEAGUE, among people who have played at least 30+ minutes so far this season.

He's 6th worst in xGF% and 22nd worst in shot differential.

In the entire league.

Gusev so far isn't an NHL caliber player. Tons of talent, but he belongs in the AHL or KHL, he hasn't shown he can hack it in the NHL. Still lots of time for that to change of course as it's early.

It may be time to send JBo back to the SEL. If Gusev can’t hold a spot in the lineup it’s hard for me to see JBo establishing himself . It’s not fair to such a young player to ask him to sit around long stretches to wait for injuries.

I get he is not great defensively, but let's not go so far to say he isnt NHl quality. That is underrating him massively.
