I agree on both counts, but I was talking about more for the offseason? Ullmark has one more year on his deal, but I believe Swayman is an RFA and due for another raise.

I could realistically see a scenario where they decide to trade the last year of Ullmark's deal and extend Swayman for a pretty decent amount, which would tie up too much cap space if they were to keep Ullmark's last year?

That makes sense. Does Ullmark move the needle behind our D the way he does behind Boston's D?

Probably not quite

They also have a much better goalie coach than we do. One of the best in the league. Rogalski has to be gone before we were to acquire him or anybody else in my mind.

I still think he’s an upgrade over what we got though. Even his “bad” years in Buffalo weren’t THAT bad.

To me the Lazar trade, Nosek signing, and not qualifying then giving him a one year deal indicates Fitz at the very least was aware McLeod was a risk to commit to cause of this.

If McLeod was actually majorly involved and details as to how involved he was get public, and a few stories come out about how everyone in hockey knew what happened (not even in NJ necessarily even tangential figures like the Melynyk sisters apparently) I could see Fitz having to step down for being the guy that re-signed McLeod. Something just too toxic to have your GM be known for.

If the trial is really not until 2026 though he might just lose his job anyway by then.

For as much of a joke as Ottawa has been in recent years, they did do away with Formenton as soon as this was becoming a pretty big story, which was around the summer of 2022, if I'm not mistaken.

And I'm not even taking a shot at us or other organizations who let guys continue to play, but I'm just saying for as much as I laugh at Ottawa and as bad as things were with the Dorion regime, at least they were the first team to really do away with one of these guys and banish them.
The team being (technically) owned by the Melnyk daughters at the time probably changes the perspective of the organization.

I blame porn and cell phones for all of this.

I didn't know what a gang bang was until I was like 27, and I'd be scared to death if I did...and I sure as f*** wasn't picking up a phone to dial up the front desk to connect me to anyone to come by if some groupie wanted to schtup me in my hotel room.

Where's the old man yelling at clouds gif, please?

man if fitz is out by 26, not that far away, this team has some serious problems.
likely means this core has failed and another rebuild is on the horizon or at very least a major retool.

just to bring it back to a hockey topic that is...

Since others felt the same I made a thread for the ongoing McLeod and Foote situation...

Ulmark was withering out of the league before Boston. I tend to think it’s Boston’s system propping him up
I shouldn’t say withering he wasn’t that bad but everyone jumped Boston shit on goaltending once they replaced rask with ullmark

I'd be fine paying up to the Kuemper package to Boston for Ullmark, maybe that's a 1st, a 3rd and Grahame Clarke for Ullmark. Hope he would then come in solidify the net and be willing to extend.

Just expect the price for any goalie soution to hurt, the 1st (assuming NJ has it) should absolutely be on the table.

Edit: I mean in the offseason

Ullmark always had some strong individual statistics, he was just on those garbage Sabre teams. I think people were more shocked than anything that Boston went after him, but they must have known at the time that Rask was on the verge of hanging them up with his injury history.
