I'm grateful in hearing that the Owners(Harris in particular) doesn't want the Devils to miss the playoffs again.

A new beginning for the NJ Devils starts on July 1 2014. Lou announces that Schneider has signed an extension for 6 years, Salvador is retiring, Clowe is going on LTIR, Montreal resigned B Gionta along with his brother Stephen, Marty has retired and Ryder was traded and Stastny has signed with the Devils for $7M and Iginla has signed with the Devils for $2M and Johnson from Boston has signed as backup goalie for $1.9 M and DeBoer says if he is not at 500% by January 31 he will quit OH and Jagr announces that Sekac is signing with the Devils. Good night folks.

I mean you have to assume Harris gave Lou a blank check.. He's investing heavily everywhere else in the franchise but it won't have as much of an effect if the team isn't exciting and competitive

At some point we are going to have to take the " boring" route of wait and see and not sign any big contracts for veterans. We need to start clearing these bad contracts and not adding to them.

We have a lot of forwards signed...Something needs to give there if we're bringing on multiple UFA forwards.

Top 6: Elias, Henrique, Jagr, Clowe, Zajac
Bottom 6: Brunner, Ryder, Zubrus, Ruutu, Josefson(qualified)
So they could just add one UFA forward(Vanek/Stastny) and complete the top 6. And then give Sislo and Matteau a shot at the 4th line or Boucher at the 3rd line.
I think we could hope for something like this:
Henrique-Stastny-Elias
Clowe-Zajac-Jagr
Brunner-Zubrus-Ryder
Ruutu-Josefson-Matteau/Sislo

Stastny is a better C. And i think between Henrique and Elias, I rather have Patty at RW.
But this would all depend on Stastny coming here which would be a miracle by itself.

Rumors of the new owners not caring about the team were and have been greatly exaggerated online. I do not think for a second they spent $380m just to get their hands on an arena with the Devils as an afterthought. It was certainly a huge reason the purchase price was that high though.

I feel like Grabo is getting lost in the mix but I feel like he would be the best fit to slide into the 1 or 2 C spot.

If were bringing in two forwards then all of CBGB will be gone and guys like Zubrus and Ruutu are bumped down to the 4th line. Still think trading Ryder needs to happen.

If we're bringing in Stastny, Elias is our third line center or a LW somewhere, there's just no chance of us asking him to move to RW.
