This gives Kinkaid a competitive chance to win the backup job.
If there's anything this deal does, it's finally confirming the END of the Marty Era in NJ.
Clemmensen should be a good mentor to Wedgewood, and good insurance in case Kinkaid implodes.
For now. But it isn't truly over unless he signs with another team. I could see Lou picking up the phone and dragging him out of retirement if the need arises a la Beezer...
Anyone think he has a good chance to win he backup job?
I think Kinkaid has the upside and the upper hand for the back up job. He'll probably make the opening night roster. Clemmer will probably start the year in the AHL and be called up if kinkaid falters and looks shaky. That would be my guess.
45 points? Nah, that's too much. He needs to win at least 50% of his games. So if the backup gets 22 starts 11 wins will do it. Something like 11 and a few OTL's 1 pointers...you're talking around 25 points...that means the starter has to win 30+ probably more like 35.if all goes well, I expect Kinkaid to provide us with about 40-45 points.
If not, who the hell knows what happens with Clemmer...
