Havlat used to be much better player than Vrbata. Lets hope, he can can still show what he was capable of. I believe, that healthy Havlat can do 70 points.

This is an impressive deal for Lou. A bought out player can pretty much go anywhere since his salary will be so low.

IF this guy is healthy and it seems to be a big IF...can he put up big points? I remember this guy was a damn good player back in the day and isn't 36 or anything

You just read above how he's capable of getting 70 points. :sarcasm:

I think he's capable of a sykie-like season(at worst) of 20+ goals.

Hey I said I didn't want the guy before free agency started. I never thought 1 year at $1.5 million would be a possibility though.

I was afraid he'd be a 2-3 year deal at $3 million per season. Havlat is still a decent player when healthy. He just seems to have problems actually staying healthy. Still a no risk signing, and a much better bargain bin signing that frickin Olesz or Butler. That's for damn sure.

I still have nightmares about those two geeks :help:

I figure 20 points. 8g 13a in ~40 games split between 2nd and 3rd lines?

Havlat can't stay healthy. I hope he'll have better luck here, but it's not clear why he'd get less injured just because he's in Jersey. He also seems to be ~0.5 pts / game at this point. He had Marleau and Couture in SJ - hard to believe he can get better line mates here.

Hopefully he and Josefson time their injuries so that one of them are always healthy. That'd be a nice win.

Well, he managed to stay fairly healthy his last season in Chicago and for his 2 seasons in Minnesota. Played nearly the entire lockout shortened season as well. Hopefully he can stay as healthy here.

If he can, I fully expect that playing with Elias and having Jagr and Zidlicky around him will help bring the best out of him. He's still a highly skilled player that has lost some speed but still skates very well. If he can play close to a full season, he can get 20 goals 50 points here.

It's really just his last 2 seasons in San Jose that he struggled to produce. His first season there was shortened by injury, but he was on pace for 57 points in a full season. I'd be thrilled if he gave us that type of production.

Health is such a big 'if' with him though.

It's really a question of health. If healthy Havlet still has the skills to produce. Just a big if with his health.

But this contract is zero risk and the upside is pretty high.

Hopefully extra motivation from his buddies help too. Maybe he can join Jagr's fitness camp for nuts.
