Devils Sign Blackwood

A couple other prospects signed before the new year. There most be some reason behind it.

One could be signing bonuses. Blackwood gets bonuses each year regardless of if he turns pro which also ends up lowering his AAV.

There must be some kind of reason though. I doubt they just randomly signed him now.

I think might have something to do with the travel. Maybe Blackwood's agent would just rather be in Helsinki than Barrie to talk this stuff over with him.

Could be a right time right place sort of thing. Maybe Fitzgerald and Blackwoods agent are both in Helnsinki so they ironed out a deal real quick.

However, the other guy that signed before the New Year that I saw was Ryan Gropp, who is not in the WJC. Not sure what the reasoning is there.
