Like I said. The NJD can’t beat FLA without Mac Black. He was the only netminder we had that absolutely refused to lose to FLA. And even they beat him sometimes but not often.
Holy shit

This is like the stay puft marshmallow man version of DD.

I thought maybe that was a bad omen and that I had chosen our destructor when I first saw that.

Yes! I told you I was up for like 15 seconds or more before that! I was fired up at that point.

I had two friends with me (not DD lol) and they weren’t feeling as hot as I was (one had a headache by the end of the game) and they weren’t as jacked (no JackedDevilsFan pun intended) as I was by the end of the game haha.

I do remember in the live MSG feed seeing the Meier guy standing up, but wasn't sure if that was the EN goal or another one from 1st period.

Not sure if the MSG feed had the EN sequence replay...like in this.

After you posted the earlier picture I only realized it this morning you probably had to be in the other replays (chance was high).

This is not a claim you’re able to prove. Devils got goaltending last night and were absolutely pummeled.
They won the game. Sometimes you win games you’re not supposed to win because goaltending. Ever hear the term “stealing a win”? That happens when you have a goalie make timely saves.

They also missing their top half of the lineup and Hamilton. Which goes back to my original statement give this team healthy roster and average goaltending like last year and they can do some damage

TBH, I think Ruff has turned holtz into a better player. He was more a sniper kid and now turning into a Haula/mcLeod who can shoot a lot better.

I know it's a bit of tough love continuum but holtz is a much much better player than a season or two ago. I actually think Ruff has him for his personal project this season to get better.

I know ruff looks like he doesn't give a f*** but i think it is the exact opposite
Yeah I'm going to say that he gives him praise in private but doesn't in public as he doesn't want him to rest on his laurels, so to speak.

(just an assumption, though)

The Meier guy was in the front row. It was him, a Hughes Jersey jersey (Jack I think. I’m pretty sure I saw the 8 so it had to be a Jack) and a white Stevens to the left of him. Not sure they were there together. The Stevens guy was a bit older than the other two. I’m pretty sure the Timo and Jack jerseys were there together.

Those three and the two other guys with me seemed to be the few Devils fans really close to us, but there were a bunch a few rows up.

I think it was the Hughes jersey next to to the Meier guy that randomly yelled in the 3rd period when play went to the other end “YOU SUCK BOBBY!” And a few quieter words about his contract. That drew a not so great reaction from the locals. One guy a bit down playfully said “Go back to Jersey!” And chuckled.

See, even I don’t yell shit like that at games. I’ll do it from my house, but not at the game. I have a certain code of conduct and respect I try to practice in public. Even when I was young I still acted in the manner I do today. I also try not to curse, there’s lots of kids that may not hear F bombs and other such language in their household.

Got out to a 3 goal lead thanks to some softies allowed by Bob. Then hung on for dear life.

The third period was us just getting our asses kicked.

Got the W though.

The goaltending is numbers 1, 2, and 3 for me. I feel like a lot of the shaky play is attributed to the team knowing the smallest mistake they make is probably going to end up in the back of the net because of Vitek.

Good goaltending goes such a long way. I was scared about the hard schedule too... but then I don't know what to think when we have a relatively healthy team that can't beat San Jose, Anaheim, and Columbus at home... but half a team almost beat Tampa (if not for goaltending) and then did whatever the hell happened in Florida last night. I guys they play better against good opposition lol
I also believe the team plays shaky in front of Vitek because they have no confidence in him. He plays worse behind them and they play worse in front of him.

It’s basically being afraid your partner or spouse is going to cheat every day because they’ve done it enough times.

Yes, I’m once again sorry I keep comparing hockey to morbid real life situations like infidelity, fentanyl and cancer.

But Daws playing well is the reason they won. The team didn’t play better because he played great. Objectively, they played like shit for 45 mins and didn’t give the team any meaningful confidence boost to enable them to do better.

They are playing without their entire top D pairing and basically a 1st line worth of players. Any win is a morale booster for this group right now. Literally zero reason to overanalyze these games at this junction. It’s pure survival mode

I thought the 1st period was really good. Some guys I heard talking when I was going back to my seat during the 1st intermission said it was our best 1st period in a year lol.

It definitely wasn’t our best 1st period in a year, but it was good.

The rest of the game? Ugh.

Lmao, I forgot how bad the Panther announcers are. Go to 5:50 at the Haula goal, the color commentator says "for the love of salmon sandwiches and rubber boots". Never heard that one before.

Also, what was with the stingy scoring summary last night? From rewatching, Nico should definitely get an assist on the Haula goal and Tierney looks like he deserves one on Marino's ENG.

That’s Randy Moller, who has some funny sayings and catchphrases. He was once their radio PBP guy and there’s a YouTube video of some of his crazy calls, where he says stuff like that. He was promoted to one of their TV color commentators several years ago, which I don’t mind because he’s better than Bill Lindsay and old, drunk Homer Potvin who were in that position.

Homer Goldstein the PBP guy is brutal. The only time during a game down there that I’m ever tempted to yell something obscene about the franchise or at one of its players or members is when they show him on the scoreboard usually in the intermissions and pregames.

I used to think it was a piggyback off the TV feed, but he appears to be addressing the crowd and not TV viewers, so I’m assuming it’s not part of the TV broadcast.

I was tempted last night to say “Shut up you dumb bald f***”.

The team played a good 1st period and don’t really have the horses right now to play better than that against a team like the Panthers.

I’d be concerned if we played like that with anything close to a healthy lineup.

If we looked like that against Chicago, Columbus, Anaheim or San Jose with this lineup i may be concerned.

I still think the short, tattooed, creepy Devils fan that travels everywhere is at least a lurker here, after giving me a dirty look as I let him out of his aisle last night after the 1st period. He must have seen me behind him outside when he was chatting with some other guy before the doors opened and he must have seen me post about it between then and the 1st intermission. I was pleasantly surprised to see he had his face painted for pride night. I'm guessing they were doing that somewhere on the concourse. That was a pleasant shocker for me, considering some of the things he chanted at the last game I saw him at and certain beliefs he has publicly expressed, both online and at games..... He kind of just seems like some trend follower to me.

I'm not one to paint anything on my face, but I would have gotten one of those paddle things I saw a few people carrying. I'm guessing they were sold on the concourse? They were sponsored by Stoli.

There was one guy down by me by warmups wearing a shirt that said ''I love my lesbian daughter'' and he had a pride colored key lanyard around his neck. He was there with who I'm assuming was a daughter of his in an Ekblad jersey.

Good for him. That's a standup guy right there. He was a big guy too. You know how many people would kill to have a dad like that? We need more parents and people like him. I almost wanted to tell him that, but at the same time, he's not looking to be pedestalized or commended for wearing a shirt like that. He's just living his life and he don't give a f*** when anybody thinks.
