Post-Game Talk: Devils continue to own the Bruins 1-0 (How???)

This game had a little bit of everything :

A team scored a goal

The other team did not

A goaltender stood on his head

The other played well enough to win but he didn't


Announcers b*tching and moaning about Calls

Refs actually not being dicks this time (they let Zacha get away with one)


And all that results in another Devils win.

The type of win that was common-place back in the day.


Jack played much MUCH better in this game which is encouraging.


Ty Smith....Jesus christ.....Maybe I should call him THAT from now on 'cause he's been a true Miracle for the Devils.

Kyle was just in the right place at the right time again. I suppose that's better than the opposite.



Bratt was Bratt as usual and NO, @MauDevils ...It's NOT Bratt's fault the puck deflected off his backfoot (just like it wasn't Sevs fault in that Capitals game).


Big Mac was BIG-TIME tonight.

Made some huge saves including the Save of the Month, forget the game.



All in all, the Devils just seem to have the Bruins number.

What a weird game.


But we won so LET'S GO DEVILS!!

Murray is doing good things as well. He is a very calming influence out there which is why Vats has improved since Butcher was taken out. I would extend both.

I’m really glad this staff at least lets Ty play 20 minutes a game and doesn’t try to “Ease” him along. I think we’ve eased him along enough, considering he was probably good enough to play in the league last year and was a very late cut in 2018.

Blackwood and the Penalty Kill were the stars tonight (never thought I would type that about the PK). Offense continues to be putrid when it comes to finishing chances. Nice to get a win after the Caps debacle.

They've both been pretty solid this year except for the post Corona span where Murray was bad. I'd offer both short term deals while we see what happens with the Bingo kids.

Why is it that Boston - a club that can go toe to toe with Washington - is one and 4 against us this year (with that one in OT) and can’t even score an even strength goal against us in 5 games. While we can’t beat Washington? Match ups. Go figure.

I would say the Devils played a solid game against the Caps in at least 3 this season. Its not like every game against them was like Fridays performance. I think we even had leads in 3 of the games. But they definitely have our number. They have the perfect balance of size, speed, talent and experience. Boston is lacking the speed and talent in some areas which is why our fast youngsters are beating them to pucks and negating second/third scoring chances on plays. Hence their inability to produce a 5 v 5 goal against us.

Many on here are doom and gloom and like to ignore all of this good play. I see a ton of positives, especially when you remove the covid stretch because that team was flat out EXHAUSTED. Devils are not far off and that is with no Nico and a Hughes who is still a year or two away from consistently producing. I like we are at.

Next season the kids will be bigger, stronger, more experienced and they will actually have a camp, consistent practices and more time in the gym to work with.
