People seem to be romanticizing the 2012 squad as though we didn't overperform expectations. Am I the only one who remembers listening to the radio every day and hearing how Deboer insisted on trying Zach and Kovy as linemates even though we didn't have enough forwards to put together 3 good lines? We don't have that problem now... or the chemistry problem. Rico and Hallsy love each other lol.

This team isn't as good at the top as 2012 but it has more depth offensively.

are you misremembering that we had a 30 goal scorer on our 3rd line that year?

and Sykora had 20 on line 2?

in the playoffs, Henrique was playing on the 3rd line. he nearly won R.O.Y.

some of you guys really need to pump the brakes on this team. we were the WORST team offensively last year in the entire league.

It's quite miraculous that Clarkson even hit 30 when he was playing with a rotating crew of Josefson, Tedenby, Carter, Zalewski, Mills, Sestito, and whatever scrub we called up to play alongside him that year. Granted he scored a lot of PP goals, but still.

The Devils are coming off a season where they were 30th offensively and it wasn't close. Now sure, this was also true in 2011, but that team had more offensive talent than this one.
