Ahh.

Side note - never realized how common those are, until my wife got pregnant the first time. It’s so much more-talked-about now than, say, 20 years ago. At least that’s my perception.
They definitely happen more than people realize, and they can be very traumatic on people. As a medic I can say the way it goes down sometimes can be pretty horrifying. I won’t give details, but I have respect for people who keep trying.

I can only imagine what you’ve seen. But I do watch Chicago Fire on the regular.

Seriously tho … we see my wife’s two as blessings, since what followed were our two children. Awful at the time, yes. Not for me, I don’t look ahead like that … but not great for her. At the time.

Now? Like I said, a blessing.

I didnt mean to come off as it wasnt a huge win by Koochie, it just wasnt as lop sided as the shot count suggest. Like I said it was a but like a lot of our games from the last few years. Actually pretty even other then possession, shot and score.

Point was the Devils didnt "run" the Canes they played a slightly better game, but it was close real close and Koochie outplayed his counter parts.

Yep, I agree with all of that. I wasn't saying the Canes got their asses kicked or anything, just that the Devils had an edge in the overall flow of the game until it got to a point where they had to loosen up and take some risks. If you deleted the scoring plays from the first 45 minutes of the game and asked who won, NJ would seem like the slightly better bet. Fortunately we had an edge in the most important part of that formula, the goaltender, and that's a valid way to win a hockey game. I'm not even mad about how the Canes played, they actually played a really good game, it was just a very difficult opponent which played well even in a slump.

Ahh.

I've experienced a handful of them as the husband, and it really is a quietly devastating event for the woman, both physically and psychologically. Most women have to go right back to normal life while still in the absolute worst of it. I can't even imagine being a Walmart cashier or an airline CSR or something, dealing with people's bullshit a day or two later. I'm glad people talk more about this now, because there's a desperate need for more support.

Only time Hamilton was booed that I heard pretty clearly was the Devils 1st pp, and that coincided with the PA announcement of the penalty.

At least once there were distinct boos when he touched the puck 2-3 times on a single shift. It might have been that same PP, or one of the other ones, but the boos definitely started when he had the puck and stopped when he didn't, something like 3 times in a row.

Dougie should be pretty close to the bottom of the list of ex-Canes to boo. Just a shitty moment for what fortunately was a small number of knuckleheads.

I mean, I booed hamilton because he was afraid of ovie.

But, that was when he was here, LOL
Guy in my section yelled whenever Hamilton had the puck "we loooove you Hamilton" and the moment he passed yelled "you suck Hamilton!"

Also in my section was a very kind spirited fan in a New Jersey jersey. After much cajoling to take off his jersey from the college fans behind him, he said "OK I'll actually throw my shirt down if Carolina scores 4 times." Bless his heart the man had a smile on his face when he did just that after the Noesen goal.

I always have had fun with the Devils fans.

My oldest child wouldn't be celebrating her birthday today if we hadn't miscarried. The due date of the original pregnancy was supposed to be in June.

These things are common enough that there should be no stigma whatsoever around them.

I'm not sure Haula deserved any boos either.

Yes, he wasn't happy here, and may have requested a trade, but he also had some very unfortunate/traumatic person thing while here too.

Yeah, maybe be has also kinda acted like a dick on the ice after leaving, but he also is getting booed by us.

I personally don't really think any players deserve boos unless they call out the fanbase or something.

IIRC, he and his wife did trash the organization, the fans and the city when he left. That's why (I assumed) he was getting booed.

No one (I hope) would boo him for leaving after dealing with what he had to deal with in his personal life.

I doubt most fans were even aware of his personal life issues.

He was pissy about getting playing time.
He was "reportedly" at odds with a coach that is a franchise hero.

Not hard to see why fans boo'd him. Not sure why anyone is surprised by it or think it's wrong. Fans boo ex players all the time.

How the hell the Devils have that kinda record with a goalie like that? Or did he just happen to blow last night?

He just happened to blow it last night. Their goaltending was a big ? in the off-season, and they answered the call early in the season, and won games. Lately, they've fallen back down to earth (though not to the level of last night), and the Devils are struggling.

Him deciding to go after Necas every chance he got in the playoffs with Nashville didn’t help him either.
