I mean he won won a USHL champ, then ECHL coach of the year with the Walleye after improving them by 58 points, then was an AHL coach for 2 years (with the trajectory still looking up) before being plucked up by Cooper. He seems like a good coach.

Awesome. After Lambert was promoted in NYI, Yzerman stayed patient and waited for the next guy up that he wanted instead of panicking and getting involved in the DeBoer/Tortorella/Tocchet silliness.

At the start of the playoffs I was listening to Sirius XM NHL radio with Jeff Marek as a guest...It was then I had heard about Derek Lalonde - an Yzerman hire - a thoughtful/respected coach who's well liked by colleagues and players.
