This has Nothing to do with NBC not being part of NHL tv deal. It has to do with IIHF and IOC and NHL/NHLPA not being able to come to an agreement on issues medical/media rights to use the footage for marketing reasons to where the NHL would allow its players to play in the winter games.

I thought it basically was a done deal that NHL players were going? Did things change or do I remember wrong?

I believe part of the "return to play" plan last summer was an agreement to "re-visit" player participation in the Olympics, but I could be off on that.

Well, there's still hope that a deal won't be reached and we won't need to interrupt the season for what is, from a certain perspective, a meaningless tournament.
