Datsyuk Dangles' team is in the finals?

Lehtonen in net, Spezza, Bozak, Helm, Steckel up the middle, A Marc Staal on the top pairing and Petry, DeKeyser, Weaver on the blueline?

No 'defense wins championships' formula here, nor experience, nor playoff grit.

The Murray Douglas's are amazingly overperforming.

Kuddos to DD for managing the draft though. It's the second good one of his I can recall participating in.

Bait taken

Datsyuk Dangles' team is in the finals?

Lehtonen in net, Spezza, Bozak, Helm, Steckel up the middle, A Marc Staal on the top pairing and Petry, DeKeyser, Weaver on the blueline?

Lehtonen a top 5 goalie in net? A first line center, a second line center with Kessel, a third line center, and a fourth line center? A top pairing defenseman on the top pairing? Petry, Dekeyser, and Weaver as my three worst defensemen? Not sure what is out place at all here.

No 'defense wins championships' formula here, nor experience, nor playoff grit.

My team has a good defense, and an even better offense. If teams with little playoff experience never won the Cup, teams like the Hawks would never have won, same with LA, same with Pittsburgh. I just listed three of the last five Cup winners? Whoa.

Oh and just because I can:

Cup Winners: Helm, Eaves
Cup Finals: Spezza, Alfredsson, Asham
Conference Finals: Prospal, Staal, Clowe, Eriksson
Conference Semi-Finals: Steckel, Dekeyser, Markov, Nyquist
Conference Quarter Finals: Lehtonen, Weaver, Kessel, Bozak

So a total of three players from my team have never made the playoffs, one who was a rookie last year and is my backup goalie.

The Murray Douglas's are amazingly overperforming.

That, or nobody agrees with your opinion.

Kuddos to DD for managing the draft though. it's the second good one of his I can recall participating in.

Thanks

Is this really significant?

And as for your centers, I've watched Spezza since he was booed in Windsor (where I went to uni) for gutless effort in tight-checking games. Bozak is no championship-calibre second line option.

spezza-1-newsthumb-325.jpg

The Hockey News said:
His skating ability, play without the puck and physical toughness are all average, at best. Can be guilty of overhandling the puck at times. Turns the puck over a lot while trying to create offense. Needs to stay focused.

The emperor wears no clothes (except on top-6 wing).

We can agree to disagree about the squad.

Not related to this argument, but The Hockey News' Flaws section literally pulls out any doubt from the players' past to find flaws. Take for an example, Malkin:

"Can struggle on face-offs. Isn't as dominant when he plays either wing position, since he is denied the puck more often along the wall. Takes bad penalties and is a little careless with the puck in the defensive zone."

Doesn't sound like the 2nd or 3rd best player in the world, does he?

Well considering you implied my team had no playoff experience, yes. You also conveniently ignored my point about teams like the Hawks making the Conference Finals and winning the Cup with very little playoff experience.

And as for your centers, I've watched Spezza since he was booed in Windsor (where I went to uni) for gutless effort in tight-checking games. Bozak is no championship-calibre second line option.

Spezza: 52 points in 56 playoff games including 22 points in 20 games in that Cup Finals appearance. Bozak with Kessel has proven he can put up second line center production with above average defensive play and being good at the dot.

Not sure what posting a picture and some quote from some random source has to do with this. I hope you're not using that as your source against my team.

Exactly. They sound like any incredibly biased source to me.

The Hockey News?

Anyways, congrats again on making it to the finals.

There were several fantastic teams built to win the cup in 2013. I profiled some of them in power rankings (including the other finalist, Royals, 4th after two picks, 2nd after seven picks and 1st after three-quarter of the picks).

G'day.

Your definition of contenders is literally just cup experience and defense. That's cool but clearly you have a different opinion than most people.

DD you literally had the easiest matchups you could've gotten. No offense to their GMs, everyone did great, but how the **** did the Flames get to the CFs? And I'm still struggling to see how I got beat by the Jets when I have them outmatched at almost every position besides maybe my 3rd line. The team doesn't even have a starting goaltender for ****'s sake.

DD, I know you're insanely competitive just based off of working with you and all. I just do find it rather interesting that plenty of the stronger teams were either left out of the equation altogether or got knocked out very early on, besides Produce, who was the consensus top guy. I didn't expect to win, but I was sure as hell expecting to make it further than the 1st round.

The parity in this is just so close that it's rather interesting that the commissioner (who's also in charge of voting) is in the finals. I don't really blame you as you put a ton of work into this, but that doesn't make it right. I'd be interested to see proof of these results but it's obviously too late for that

i also thought we all agreed on doing polls for all of these until a mod moved them back here, but whatever.

I think the ranking of the teams kind of messed up the whole process; it was biased towards the five or so people who voted for the initial seeds. More people should have voted to get a bigger sample size yet only a couple voted. I'll admit I was at fault here; I disregarded this game when LT's game started.

IDK. DD has done the best job he could do and I thank him for it.

The opinion I have formed of DD from my time watching him grow as a GM, and later into a commissioner and then a guy who runs games is this: he's extremely competitive, works hard and plays these games the right way. I would never, ever think of him doing anything to sway things in his favour, let alone fix the results of team standings and playoff matches. His team is good, and is easily a top 5 team in this game.

I am also guilty of not voting for standings, and I'm sure the lack of effort by myself and many others did alter the way the results could have been.

It's a shame some people have to cry and claim cheating when their team gets eliminated.

Congrats to Produce on winning the Cup! He got the best of me this time in the polls, just don't expect it to happen again Produce ;). Thank you to all the people who stayed active, especially Jay who took this over for large portions of the draft.

I don't know when the next time I'll be able to run one of these again will be. I'll be too busy at college ****ing hot girls and partying.
