Did pretty good job of building up Panthers to a contender and didn't he get a lot of credit for cleaning up cap situation with them?

Will be interesting to see what he does at QB

Yeah I don't understand FANS hating the move other than seeing it as same old same old since Gettleman was an 'insider Giants football' pick. Giant players on the other hand? (after some of the ripping the Carolina players gave Gettleman on the way out like he was subhuman) They'll be running for the hills. Of course nobody but Eli deserves any slack after the year they had.

I think the reason why Giants fans are upset is because iirc Gettleman has similar problems with his way of doing things when compared to Reese.

Gettleman basically let that secondary stagnate in Carolina. Similar to how Reese covered his ears and went lalalalala in regards to the o-line and running game.

Gettleman is a divisive name for Panthers fans. The dude found some good players, no doubt, but a lot of the core guys of this team were Hurney picks. He's got an eye for linemen, but he thinks he's Belichick with the way he's not wanted to pay good players. Draft history:

2013:
1. Star Lotulelei - Good run stopper, was going to be a top 5 pick before the fake heart problem thing.
2. Kawann Short - One of the best 4-3 pass rush DTs in the league, and solid against the run.
4. Edmund Kugilba - Bust
5. AJ Klein - Just a guy here playing behind Kuechly, but doing well in New Orleans.
6. Kenjon Barner - Traded to Philadelphia, mainly a return guy.

2014:
1. Kelvin Benjamin - Had some decent seasons here but now has injury concerns
2. Kony Ealy - Bust outside of the Super Bowl performance, eventually traded to the Patriots, who cut him, and is supposedly doing okay for the Jets
3. Trai Turner - One of the best guards in the league
4. Tre Boston - Bust, now doing okay with the Chargers
5. Bene Benwikere - Was good once, but then Julio Jones completely owned him for 300 yards and killed his career.
6. Tyler Gaffney - Bust, got hurt in camp and released, claimed by the Patriots which caused Panthers fans to freak out, did nothing there
Un. Philly Brown - A worse Ted Ginn
Un. Andrew Norwell - One of the best guards in the league

2015:
1. Shaq Thompson - Makes huge plays, but also doesn't know how to wrap up, probably the heir to TD
2. Devin Funchess - Currently the #1 WR, looks explosive at times, still can't catch reliably
4. Daryl Williams - Quietly grading out as one of the better young tackles in the league
5. David Mayo - Special teamer, the new not Luke Kuechly
5. Cameron Artis-Payne - #3 RB that probably deserves a bigger role

2016:
1. Vernon Butler - Decent player, but a rotational DT in the first round with other clear needs
2. James Bradberry - Came on as a rookie and for the first half of the season but has started to suck lately.
3. Daryl Worley - Traded up for, struggling a lot and has been a rotational player at times.
5. Zack Sanchez - Practice squadder
7. Beau Sandland - Who?

2017:
1. Christian McCaffrey - We all know how good he's been in a limited role
2. Curtis Samuel - IR
2. Taylor Moton - Might eventually displace Matt Kalil, but right now just a backup
3. Daeshon Hall - IR
5. Corn Elder - IR
6. Alex Armah - FB who doesn't play
7. Harrison Butker - Stolen by the Chiefs off the practice squad

Existing guys: Cam, Kuechly, Stewart, Kalil, Davis, Coleman, Charles Johnson, Olsen, Brenton Bersin

Sean McDermott probably had the most to do with Coleman.

Some fans probably forget Accorsi was his mentor and not Reese. I think after all the turmoil they wanted to keep things low key and just go with someone they know, who at least has experience. Its still embarrassing that Richardson pushed him out after the salary cap cartwheels he had to push thru when he replaced Hurney.

Also got rid of Giants starting RT

This tweet is raising eyebrows

And now we have this

So Hart has now deleted this and essentially admits he quit on team in process. Way to back up Schwartz claim there

Warning: Bad joke coming!

At first, I thought Dave Letterman was the GM of the Giants.

Dave: And now, the Top 10 reasons I'm the GM of the New York Football Giants....

Why do you think that Collins will be gone? He's the premier piece on the defense.

well it might have been mostly because of the scheme used in carolina, but he didn't value secondary players there. on most years, they spent less than 10M TOTAL on their secondary. collins alone is getting more than that, most likely.

he clearly values trenches over anything else, except probably QB. even used a 1st rounder on DT when he had lotulelei and short on his roster and pretty clear needs in the secondary.

edit. it could be interesting since, iirc, carolina was pretty high on him and could've taken him with their 1st; but use him as a LB. collins didn't want to be LB and told them to just not draft them in that case.

Hey, Carolina needs a safety, maybe they should give that marriage a second chance. Too bad they've only got like $20 million in space and need to sign Star, Norwell, a kicker (probably Gano again), a backup QB (probably Derek Anderson again), Peppers if he wants to come back, and, of course, Brenton Bersin.
