It's kind of tough to not pay him like a top pairing defenseman when they play him like they do.

Good luck getting an agent to agree to #3/4D money when only one player in the entire league(Chabot) played more even strength minutes than him.

Fair enough, even more reason to deal him asap so you do not have to pay him top pairing money next contract

It was kind of a perfect storm that caused the bridge price, IMO.

In the two years leading up to it, Klef and Larsson both had probably the worst seasons of their careers. Along with that, they also had a bottom pairing anchored by Benning that would literally spontaneously combust if they played more than 10 minutes. He was forced into playing crazy minutes because of that. Like only Doughty and Suter have played more even strength minutes over the last three seasons. That's nuts.

Get two other competent pairings, bring his ice time down by a couple minutes and I bet that next contract looks a whole lot better.
