Like the size, but the numbers point to him playing limited minutes in Norfolk.

Hopefully he can turn some heads.

Really bad news for Daniil:

Last week the sudden arrival of Daniil Zharkov at Condors camp caused a stir since no one expected the Oilers once highly thought of draft pick was still in the mix.

The experiment didn’t last long, though, due to unfortunate circumstances. Zharkov tore the ACL in the same knee that forced him out of action last season. He’s expected to undergo surgery in Bakersfield and will be out for 6-to-9 months.

Dang. Poor kid. :(

Ouch, that's really rough. He was on a PTO. I wonder if the Oilers will look after him during his rehab or if he'll be on his own?

I think you can't attend a pro camp without being insured like crazy, so hopefully he'll be able to get good care and rehab. Even so, that's gotta be a near impossible thing to recover from. Not even so much the injury as missing two prime developmental years. Yeesh.

The fact that he re-injured the same ACL kinda makes you wonder what kind of crap surgery he got in Russia (or if he rushed back his return, which comes with its own questions of whether Bakersfield was negligent when they cleared him to play ...)

He's 21. If he keeps his spirits up he might be able to make a comeback some day. Matt Read was a rookie at age 25 and he's doing well. A recurring injury like that seems like it could make it harder for him, but hopefully not impossible
