Playoff Contender-If they finished from 6th place-8th place and if they missed by only 2 points
Bottom EC/WC team-If they finished in the bottom 5 of the conference
Rebuilding-If they are in a rebuilding Stage​

so you know if you have a chance of getting the player you made an offer to.

ex : top player get offered 7.5 per by a rebuilding team, you know there's a possibility to get him for approx the same amount if you're a "contender". (well, unless you're Shane Doan and seem to be absolutely in love with PHX)
