I don't have an issue with people picking Dallas - but i'm curious how many of those voting Dallas actually realize Montreal had 3 more points than Dallas did last season.

A poster on your board, said I what I've been saying: The Habs over achieved.

You could say that. You could also say Dallas improved over the summer, and Habs did not. Like I said - no issue with the results, i'm more curious if people realize Habs actually had more points then Dallas last year.

The West is a lot weaker so probably Dallas

Very debatable. East has like 7 weak teams compared to like 4 in the West. Habs might even be one of the weak teams in the East this season considering they might fall back down to earth

king's landing
5 of the bottom 6 teams last year were in the East.
4 out of the top 5 teams were in the East. 3 teams who made the playoffs in the West wouldn't have made it in the East. Out of the Eastern teams that didn't make the playoffs, NJ, NYR, PHI, FLR got significantly better while in the West only Vancouver made significant improvements.

East record vs the West last year was 247W-183L-48OTL
West record vs the East was 232W-193L-55OTL

Of course the bottom 5 were mostly eastern teams, they had to play eastern teams(i.e. better teams) more often. If you look at those teams' performance vs the west (i.e. OTT, NJ, BUF, DET) they were very close to being .500. Their winning % against western teams were waaaaaaaay higher than vs Eastern teams.

I didn't want to waste my time doing this since it was so obvious to anyone paying attention last year, yet here I am.

Montreal is in a crazy strong division, and Dallas should have improved their lack of offensive depth with the Pavelski addition.

Dallas for me.

More bottom feeders in the east to inflate point totals against, so I'm going to take Montreal

what a load of garbage. both had 7 sub 90 pt teams. The east had six 100pt teams though while the west had just 3.
top 6 in the east averaged 107pts....west 100 on the nose

Creates arbitrary under 90 mark as if all teams under 90points were exactly the same caliber. I don't know why it's so hard to understand. More bottom feeders in the east means teams, including the best , get to inflate their point totals. But alas here I am are trying to explain to you as if you're simple minded

Toronto
Montreal.

They’re better than they get credit for and they still have the best goalie in the world.

Dallas seems to underachieve every year. Hard to pick them.
