Is Lars Eller no upgrade?

Adding Eller into their center depth gives them a murder's row IMO. Especially with Sequin's injury being questionable.

What if the Penguins take back Suter?

Please don't propose trades when you clearly have no idea what Dallas's needs are.

Isn’t Radek Faksa already as good as Eller

Steel is a fine 4th liner at almost 1/3 Eller's ticket price. Not interested in Lars Eller, especially with another contract year. This team has found a solid balance for the 4th line in Faksa/Steel/C.Smith/Dellandrea.

Lars Eller.. lmaoooo

34 years old, 2.45 million for another year.. maybe include a 1st round coming to Dallas and I think about it.

Weird hyperbole. Colorado paid a 2nd rounder for him last season.

Eller has been solid this year. Would be a great add in a bottom six role for a contender.

If Penguins retained on him, he’s probably closer to returning a 1st than us paying one.

I just think not being a UFA kills a lot of interest in him, cap is tight for contenders, adding that extra year at 2.45 million seems really stupid.

Not sure about that. Dowd is reportedly garnering a lot of interest at 1.3 with term.

If PIT retained down, Eller is probably a better player.

He’s on pace for 15 goals playing absolutely brutal defensive starts.

It’s nothing against Eller or his game. Dallas has a ton of 4th line grinders. No need to use up all the cap space for a 4th liner. Steel is doing just fine.

I'm not saying anything about whether Dallas would be interested in Eller or not, but not being a UFA is generally considered a benefit, not a detriment. It helps with future Cap, since you don't have to pay extra to re-sign the player or replace them in free agency. It's usually just UFAs that are available at the deadline, because players with term are usually players the team that has them wants to retain, as well, so they ask for more for them, not less.

Again, not saying that Eller is a good fit for Dallas, just thought that statement was odd.
