Some fans were talking about that trade, While Drouin is doing really well at the moment and he seems to have finally understood how to play with his brain and heart more. The only problem for MTL, they need an offensive D who can

Klingberg is having a rough start and Benn is in the same water as Weber while carrying a larger contract.

Here is a great resume by @TooLegitToQuit :

Makes me think about it for sure. How do the Stars feel about it?

Drouin: Age 24 and signed for 4 more years at $5.5M. * UFA at 28
Klingberg: Age 27 and signed for 3 more years at $4.25M. * UFA at 30
Benn: Age 30 and signed for 6 more years at $9.5M.
Weber: Age 34 and signed for 7 more years at $7.86M. * Contract designed for him to retire after 3 or 4 more years. Leverage over the Preds on the $24M of recapture penalty may or may not be an asset.

* Average age from each side is 29
* Cap hits moving from each side is $13-$14M range
* 11 years of term going to Dallas and 9 going to the Habs. When you factor in Weber likely retires after his age 37 season, It's 8 vs 9.

What do both fan base say ? who add, who retain, yes, no ?

Lindell is also an other option over Klingberg

I feel like Dallas says no, but assuming Benn really has fallen off, I'm not sure the Habs would do it.

As a Habs fan I would do it but I can't see any way a team would want to let go of Klingberg and I wouldnt do it for Lindell

I don’t want to get anywhere near Benn’s and his contract. Thank you but no thank you

Klingberg would fit really well in our system IMO and is struggling a bit in Dallas at the moment.

Lindell is a big shutdown guy, love him.

Absolutely, I would love to have Klingberg but also realize that theres no way any team would let him go even if he were struggling

Well Benn doesn't make the Habs younger or solve their gapping hole at center so I'm sure Bergevin would be all over it.

Maybe he could spin the move as 'we'll try Benn at C'

As a Stars fan no, that Weber contract might be even worse then Benn’s.

I would do Benn for Weber, but I wouldn’t do Klingberg for Drouin

Are you living in 2010? Habs have a good group of young centres with a lot of potential.

Remind me their 1C again, this ought to be good for a laugh.

19 year old Kotkaneimi, 20 year old Suzuki, 24 year old Max Domi, or 20 year old Poehling in a pinch. Denault has been on the ice for far more goals for then goals allowed in the interim role he's in too so we aint exactly rushing to get someone to fill in.

We are fine with centres for the future. If an elite 1c comes up we would take it but we are fine down the middle for the future if not.

might be possible with some retain if they get the better contract in Weber. But Benn will still produce over 60p this season and his physical

He’s had 53 last season and 2 in 8 games this year. He’s mostly been criticized for being soft since last season begun.

9.5M for this year + 5 more? Not sure I want on my team.

Too early to give up on Klingberg just yet and Lindell is the most untouchable Stars dman after Heiskanen. We literally could not replace Lindell

I'm fine with moving Benn for Weber tho

Montreal hasn't had a gaping hole at center since 2017-2018.

ummm, their 1C atm is Danault, a guy who would probably be a 3C on a contending team. If that isn't a gaping whole idk what is. Just cause you got a bunch of middle of the pack centers to clog the system with, doesn't mean you guys have fixed the issue of not having a star forward let alone one that can play centre.

Kotkaniemi, Domi, Danault, Poehling, suzuki.... more than enough choice.

Carry on.

So two 2nd liners and a bunch of guys that haven't done anything in the league yet? Your division alone has Stamkos, Point, Bergeron, Barkov, Matthews, Tavares, Eichel and you think Danualt or Domi matches up well against them?? Lmao thanks or the laugh.
