He signed a 2 year AHL deal in the offseason. He was amazing to end the season for Texas but with incredibly small sample size. It was allways likely he'd get an ELC at some point during his AHL deal. Now with injury situation they rather gave him the ELC now and call him up to the NHL than call up an ECHL goalie . They don't have enough capspace for Khudobin ( who also has been dreadful in the AHL )

Camp and Pre-season very much showed Murray was clearly the third best goalie if the Stars needed one.
