Is he a vanilla sub 6'0 180 lbs nothing who has no stand out trait, and doesnt nothing incredibley well? Sullivan could use more of them after losing his bae in Harking the other night.

After Tanev trade relegated to #8 defenseman and i don't think the team is done on the trade front. Waiving him and sending him down ( or him getting picked up i guess ) does add a bit more caspace.

Low event 5 v. 5 defenseman. Shouldn’t be more than a 7th defenseman on a playoff team. Will make mistakes filling in up the lineup but thats every 7th defenseman. Probably as good of one as you can ask for realistically.

His first career goal opened the scoring in the Cup series against Tampa.

So he'll always have that, at least.

Would be surprised if he gets claimed; if not, he'll provide decent depth for Texas.

Yep this reeks of a guy Mike Sullivan salivates over, welcome to Pittsburgh.

Any playoff team not 100% confident in their #7 would be foolish to not take him at league minimum

I could see Hanley being one of those odd situations where the player gains some value once they clear waivers.

Though depending on what the Oilers plan is, I could see them potentially putting in a claim, as They haven't ran a #7 in a while. But that's more out of choice to conserve as much cap space as possible; plus their defacto option (Broberg) has been playing outstanding hockey in the AHL.

I can see the Flames picking him up. Their blueline is going to be hurting by Friday. Yikes.

Kylington - Weegar
Osterle - Andersson
Gilbert - Pachal

Yikes

He put in some years with the Stars after looking like a career AHL player at 25 congrats to him
