This is a well considered deal from the Stars POV.

We really don't want to give up Bourque who figures to be the Duchene replacement at center next year

But understand if CGY thinks it's slightly low or they could get more by dealing separately. Unfortunately there's not really an appealing center prospect alternative to offer

True, but picks can be exchanged for many centers

Conroy clearly believes Tanev can bring back a 1st and looks completely willing to risk taking that ask right to the deadline.

At that point you are talking about Bischel, a 1st, and a 2nd for a signed 27 year old top pairing defender who is playing the best hockey of his career. To me that falls short and I think Calgary could do better looking elsewhere. Bischel to me isn't a guy who can be the centerpiece in such a deal.
Sure and he probably returns that but I also think that price includes retention which isn't needed under the premise Seguin is on LTIR.

Maybe you're right that that package is too light but that's why I feel like it's too rich for Dallas to go for both. I think switching from Bischel to Bourque swings it too far in the opposite direction

With rumors of Seguin maybe going on LITR

To DAL:
Hanafin (sign and trade)
Tanev
(No retention)

To CGY:
- 2024 1st (for Hanafin)
- 2024 2nd
- Bichsel
- 2025 1st (for Tanev)
I'd make a few adjustments.

If you're losing Seguin, a forward may be needed too. What about adding retention on Tanev and then Sharangovich?. Then to account for the value of Sharangovich, change Bichsel to Bourque and add Bertucci, then a defenseman to fill one of our holes?

Broken down, It's see the deal as:

to Dallas Starsto Calgary Flames
D - Noah Hanifin $4,950,0001st in 2024
C - Mavrik Bourque $894,167
F - Yegor Shargovich $3,100,0001st in 2025
D - Chris Tanev @ 50% S2,250,0002nd in 2024
D - Tristan Bertucci Unsigned prospect
D - Jani Hakanpaa $1,500,00
Cap Added: $10,300,000Cap Subtracted: $1,500,000

No thanks. Don’t need Shargovich especially if it means giving up Bourque. I don’t think Bourque has to be in this deal. I also don’t think Dallas needs both defensemen.

Gotta have Bourque there if you’re taking a whole middle pairing from us. I understand no to Stankoven.

You also need tot ease some D back. Are we able to have Hakanpaa? I think he’d be good with Kylington on the second pairing. Stars roll out:
Lindell - Heiskanen
Hanifin - Tanev
Suter - Lundkvist

I knew I forgot someone. Maybe Lindell comes the other way? I doubt Suter waives for here.

Idk, if Seguin is on LTIR and they don’t need to dump cap I’d rather not take one of their D back to tank the value of the futures. If they want to dump someone sure

If not, no need

Everyone else in the league needs to get some listening devices into that Dallas draft room for the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Holy crap they hit a lot of homeruns in those rounds.
