Cyclone Taylor

According to Eric Whitehead's book on Cyclone Taylor it says Taylor's first official organized hockey game took place in Palmerston while playing for the Listowel Mintos. However Whitehead states that Palmerston was 26 miles away. In actuality Palmerston is only 14 km (9 miles) north of Listowel.

Does anyone have any additional information validating whether or not Palmerston was indeed the first game Taylor played in? Or if was a different community further away?
