Looking at the standings right now. I think whatever happens between now and the TD, we at worst finish 26th, which would guarantee us 1oa, 2oa, 7oa, 8oa or 9oa. I guess i could live with that since the draft is pretty solid in top 10-top 12.

But more realistically, i think we finish 28th, 29th or 30th.

Dropping out of the top 6 would be a catastrophic end to the season.

I still think there is a chance MSL can take us on a Hamburglar type run the Sens did in '15. End up finishing 11th, and have to draft 25th.

I think we would have to win almost all of our games through the end in order to do that.

Not quite. But they said we never stood a chance against Toronto last year in playoffs also.

The most important thing right now is getting good value at the trade deadline. As long as that happens this season will be a success. After that we can concentrate on trying guys out in expanded roles and giving young guys a shot... there will be growing pains don't worry.

If we catch Seattle but not the Sabres, we are guaranteed a top 5 pick.
* 21.8% at top 2
* 28.8% at top 3

I like seeing the odds broken out like this. Not really that concerned about it cause there is no McDavid or Matthews but I wonder if we actually catch the Sabres, Flyers, Devils, Sens? 4 wins in the difference from that group. In that case, there is a fair chance we pick 6-8 range

If the Habs go 17-10 to end the year (entirely possible), we finish with 69 points.

Likely good for 7-8. Lottery could turn pick into 9-10 worst case scenario.

Crazy.

Of the Habs final 27 games they play Arizona and Seattle once, NJD and Philly twice, and Ottawa 3 times. That’s a 3rd of their schedule. Where they end up will have a lot on how they do in those 9 games.

Even if we enjoy seing the Habs being more entertaining and competitive under MSL, I hope they gonna draft top-three. It not only means that the team get a to-three in the first round, but also, top -three in remaining rounds, which is significant, especially in Rounds 2 and 3.

As long as the habs finish bottom 5 or so it's a crapshoot and there is at least a possibility of getting a really good pick. If they somehow succeed in giving the 11th pick to Carolina MB's horrible, useless, very bad offseason will look even worse.

Crazy.

69 points would be 7th or 8th? That's crazy. Last 3 full regular seasons:

2018-2019 - only one team finished below 69 points
2017-2018 - only 2 teams with 69 or less points
2016-2017 - only 2 teams finished with 69 or less points
