Glossing over the New York Oilers thread ( which is old yes ) I started thinking about Cup winning teams that had "many" players from another Cup winning team.

In this context, many constitutes 4 or more.

right, so we had all those oilers, messier, lowe, tik, anderson, mact, graves, and beukeboom on the rangers.

i think it's kind of a similar situation to three of the 90s powerhouses having at least a couple of '86 habs on their cup winners.

roy and pepi on the avs. keane from the '89 finals team. plus lefebvre, who wasn't on the '89 finals team but was still arguably schooled in that tradition.

pepi and richer on the devils, plus assistant coach larry robinson. also coach lemaire who was a hab though not around in '86. and chorske came up at the same time as lefebvre but he didn't spend as much time in the system and on their farm because he was a college guy.

and here's your four: carbo, skrudland, and ludwig on the stars, plus gainey their GM. keane from '89. assistant coach doug jarvis from the 70s dynasty.

1995 Devils had Stephan Richer and Claude Lemiuex who both were quiet important pieces in 1986 Montreal win.

Obviously this doesn't include repeat winners on the same team, otherwise the 2002 Wings had a ton.

How about the 1991 Pens? Coffey, Trottier and Mullen although that's only three

Not cup winners, but that New York Oilers team also had a lot of ex-Blackhawks on it, including Steve Larmer, Ed Olczyk, Mike Hudson, Stephane Matteau, Brian Noonan, as well as coach Mike Keanan.

Imo, those Hawk trades were very important. Rangers gave up some young gems to get those Oiler/Ranger players and it paid off well for them.
