Three similar players and careers. 2nd line centers, for the most part of their careers.

Mike Ridley, born '63, played last season in '97
866. 292+466=758 424.

Dave Gagner, born '64, played last in '99
946. 318+401=719 1018.

John Cullen, born '64, played last season in '99
621. 187+363=550 898.

Which one was your favourite? I thought of adding Ray Ferraro too, but he played so long he's probably on a different level.

Very heated debate so far as expected...

Sad is the future that awaits current non-superstar players 25 years from now.

Anyone have any favourites or nice memories of the three at least? I liked them all, good playmakers. Teams were lucky to have a player like that to lead their 2nd line.

Gagner had six straight 30-goals seasons which is nothing to sneeze at. He was a holy terror during the 1991 playoffs.

Cullen produced big time for Pittsburgh in 1990-91 while Lemieux was down and kept Pittsburgh alive early in the season before being dealt for Ron Francis.

Ridley was a very, very good defensive C with offensive skill. Prototype #2C.

Cullen had the best "peak" offensively, but the other two seemed to have longevity on their side. I know Cullen had cancer, but even before that his last productive season was about 5 or 6 years prior to that.

I disagree. 25 years from now, the current non-superstars will still have loads of game tape and video available to watch. These guys just missed the internet era for appreciation.

I can only vote based on how these guys played for the Leafs, but I preferred Gagner of them.

Oh god they won't watch 1080p in the year 2045. It burns their eyes.

If you can't smell the sweat, the play didn't really happen. Plus, those future Chinese and Indian computers won't even support current video formats.
