This likely has to do with the recent actions by the SEC.

Government announced lawsuits against both Binance and Coinbase. So it would make sense for Crypto.com to shutdown their USA exchange since it's basically illegal in the USA.

Robinhood also started de-listing crypto.

so what does Uncle Phil think?

Doesn't matter as long as Crypto.com is paying the bill.

If they stop paying, the arena gets renamed again.

The Tv partner stopped paying $20M a year. So that played into the play by play guy getting bounced.

Throw flagship property naming rights into the uncertainty mix, and cuts will need to come from somewhere unless a new bag is quickly secured.

The question is who has $700M laying around in their advertising budget over the next 20 years. And are they interested in tying themselves to the DTLA arena.

Thankfully the Lakers play there, so there is an attractive tenant. BLucerman is betting on that tailwind pushing their operation forward for the next 12 months

The attempts at humor on these boards are as bad as their feelings toward Kings management.

We don't know AEG's actual financials because they're a private company, but they must have gotten absolutely slammed during the pandemic.

Their entire business is entertainment: sports, concerts, and even movie theaters. All of which shut down for a year. You don't just bounce back from that right away. Movie theaters are still getting killed.

I've been pretty surprised the Kings haven't seemed to show any restrictions spending money on players over the past 3 years.

It's weird because they'll let guys like Faust and Rosen go, which might save them a few 100K per year, but they still seem willing to spend up to the cap on players.

I don't think the Arena naming rights are an issue though. They'll always be able to find a buyer willing to spend insane amounts of money for the naming rights. It's one of the most active and well known venues on earth probably.
