Crucial point in the Gretzky/Lemieux debate

One argument a lot of people use to argue Lemieux was better than Gretzky was that Gretzky's supporting cast was better. This may be true overall, but Lemieux didn't win anything until the Penguins got Jagr and all those other good players in the early '90s. Gretzky was already dominating the league in his first two years with a sub-.500 team, and he led a not-so-great Kings team to the Cup Finals in '93.

I love it when people start a thread that seems to already be part of a discussion...wait no I don't. Is there an actual question or an argument being made. I don't think I've ever seen a Gretzky/Lemieux debate here.
