Constantin Braun, the MVP of last season's DEL Playoffs, has announced that he will take some time off to deal with personal problems.

He says, that he is "in a personal crisis situation that he cannot manage without professional help."

This puts his refusal to play in the World Championships somewhat in perspective, I think and it's yet another example how big of a problem depression is these day, not only in sports but everywhere.

I hope he finds the help he needs and gets over whatever it is that is causing this.

Sad to hear. I was always wondering why he refused to play 2 times in a row in important tournaments for the German national team.

Hopefully, he will find a way to deal with this situation.

It looks like depression is pretty much work-related in most cases - the same goes for professional athletes.

I think it's good that they decided to make this public so people can understand the situation better and I just hope he gets better in the future. Will be a long and tough way though.
