Well welcome to the team Jordan. I hope you don't get injured tonight. That seems to be what all the popular kids are doing right now.

If you'd honestly pick a 2016 5th rounder over having Leopold in your lineup(in place of someone like Madaisky) for an extended period then that's laughable asset management.

Right on.

I just looked at the 2006 and 2007 5th round drafts...picked because those players drafted have had ample time to show NHL ability. The results:

2006...only 7 players have played 1 or more games in the NHL out of the 30 drafted. The most NHL games played was 43 by a goalie named Chad Johnson...whoever the hell he is.

2007...Jamie Benn was drafted in this round. A Jake Muzzin played 143 games. No one else played more than 26 NHL games. Only 7 played even a single NHL game.

5th round picks are throwaways. Getting an established, mediocre NHL dman for an almost always useless pick is a good move when the defense is as decimated as it is now. A 1 in 60 chance of getting a Benn out of a fifth pick (less than 2%) isn't worth a second worry.

Now I can't say the FO has done nothing. Just very little:laugh:

Benn was a 5th rounder? Wow. A steal.

So far so good for the new guy. He wasn't noticeable, which is a good thing.

Of course, we did pick up Calvert in the 5th round in 2008. ;)

But yeah, kvetching about giving up the pick is a tad absurd.

He was solid last night. I like this move. Better to replace Tyutin with an established NHL'er than another Springfield Falcon. Judging by his post-game interview, he seems to be a quality person as well, so I think the guys will like him. Overall, great move to add some experience at a low cost.

I'd rather have that 5th round pick. It would have likely logged 20 minutes instead of 17. Thanks Jarmo.

Like the move. I don't want to have to force St. Denis to be our 6th man for the next month or longer up here, because we desperately need our 5th round draft pick in 2016 that has at best a 1/10 shot of becoming an NHL level player. We can always find a way to pick up a 5th rounder, just by moving down a couple picks in the draft anyways.

In review of past draft classes- The Chicago Blackhawks do a very good job on hitting on those late round draft picks.

Like the move. It might say as much about Murray's health as it does Tyutin's.

Every time I see this guy's name I think of this:
