From Ryan Clark of The Athletic who is known to be the only person out there currently with legit inside info on the Avs.
It is also understood the team would look into adding another top-four defenseman under manageable circumstances. Those scenarios include the idea of a three-way trade or possibly seeing what happens in free agency. The understanding is the club would be willing to entertain at least a one-year deal with a base price point of $4 million if it meant luring an additional defenseman to go with what they already have. It is even plausible the Avalanche could make it a two-year deal.

What we're hearing about the Avalanche's offseason so far

Should note that Clark also mentioned Zadorov is likely traded and that he’s the player most teams are calling about.

Do the Avs have an internal cap? You won’t get a proven #4 for 4M.

I thought Graves was the Avs bonafide top4 dman! ;)

Olli Maatta (2 yrs at $4.083M) seems like good fit here

Intra-division trades are rare but do happen

Avs are looking for dman and have cap/assets to make deal happen while Hawks are looking to cut cap and recoup futures

Assuming a RHD

Calvin de Haan can play both RD/LD so he could be fit from Hawks as well

Hawks can retain a little (550K) to fit him into Avs price range (He has 2 x $4.55M left)
