Cool

Is he the least productive forward in the entire league getting top 9 minutes dating back the last 80 or so games?
I get the point you're trying to make, but the "evidence" you used in the previous post applies to majority of the team.

cole has been significantly better (and more consistent) in NHL games this year than johnson was.

he's been really snakebit too. the PDO while he's on the ice is in the 80s.

No, it's not. It's 957 at 5v5. Every other CBJ player with a worse PDO this season has either been scratched or sent to Cleveland.

That's true.

He's been unlucky.

He's been outscored 9 to 5, when his xGs suggest he should be outscored 10 to 7 (still the worst xG ratio among forwards with more than 10 games played).

Great.

Well a low PDO suggest bounce back potential, not go to Cleveland. But in Sillinger's case it just means with even luck he wouldn't be outscored quite as bad but still be outscored more than anyone else.

Johnson needs to get stronger, play many time, plus he can play center. We need him to be a top 6 player. Cole can be a bottom 6 player, a PK specialist.

Best place for Johnson right now to be honest. The Laine at center experiment needs to be over...if anything he needs placed back on the left wing. Have Fantilli-Jenner-Sillinger-Kuraly be your guys down the center while KJ gets stronger in Cleveland and top line minutes on a team that is playing extremely strong right now as our season is basically over. There is nothing wrong with Sillinger being the next Kuraly.

It's sad that Sillinger was rushed so soon. He had potential and this front office has ruined that. He's destined to be a third liner long term IF he starts to gain some confidence and puck skills.

It's crazy how bad this organization is at developing players. Go look at the games played for Sillinger's draft class. KJ and Cole have some of the most highest games played outside the top 4 selections. There was no need to rush these two, they actively chose to do it anyways and now it's biting them in the ass.

I actually thought Sillinger had a pretty good game and has strung together a few nice games in a row.

Is it much? No. But maybe it’s a start?

I will say, over the course of the season he's been absolutely stapled to the PK, 3rd among forwards in PK time, ahead of Jenner but behind Kuraly and Tex.

A PK that's ranked 4th in the league, so he's doing something right at least.

How's he doing this season? I know it may sound silly to say(cause he's only 20) but is there hope for him to become a real good player for you guys?

He's been much better. Not good yet but a big step up from last year.

I don't know where he'll end up. Everyone seems content to groom him into a 3C. We don't expect much.

Kotkaniemi is the closest comp I can think of. 2-3 capable C in a cup contender.

Kotkaniemi? Cole is a grit, excellent PK player with more better defense. Not afraid to play in "dirty" places, he is competitive. I didn't see it in Jesperi's play.

Sounds like you described Kotka. Cole might have a better shot but they have the same strengths

Currently his highest PPG of any of his NHL seasons. All 14 points at even strength as well.

That said, a ~35 point pace isn't very good for a 12th OA pick in his third season, nor is it all that great for a 3C.

Good to see him bounce back. Maybe some of you gave up on a 20 year old a little too soon? He's not a finished product but I think he's shown he's not only capable but a much better player than he was last year. Part of the future core with his skill set and his skating looks to have improved (Still work to do).

He's been brilliant for weeks now and finally got rewarded in points. I'm just so happy with his development. Looks like they didn't ruin him after all by keeping him in NHL. It's starting to pay out!
Brilliant is a bit of a stretch.

He's been much better and more noticeable, I'm happy to eat my words too but I'd like to see more than a couple weeks of good play before we forget all the bad of last year. Hopefully he keeps it up.
