I'm not saying it's awful or anything, but I don't understand why you would be in a hurry to acquire and sign this guy. Especially a franchise like the Avalanche, that could be pretty attractive to many free agents.

It's the kind of signing you do on july 3rd if you still have to plug a hole.

Probably because the Avs currently only have 4 forwards signed to play next year. If you can get the 13th/14th forward out of the way 2 weeks early, why not? Gives you the chance to focus on everything else.

Well, my "Dallas scouts" kind of liked him, even if the numbers aren't impressive. He didn't even produce in the AHL. But I guess there is something about his game that makes him a candidate.
