At least PoMo doesn't have to Tippet it and just throw the same 2 forwards out every other shift. :)

This is going to be tough for the "Mo must go crowd", regardless of what happens in future rounds, very likely his job is safe for now as the Jets have exceeded expectations by winning a round and a sweep at that.

He's not going anywhere and nor should he based on us getting to round 2. My expectations were to be a playoff team and win a round and that has been accomplished. Also the team is dialed and it looks like our best have woke up and are playing great hockey.

I'm no Moe fan and think this team still needs to fix some things structurally wise but the results are good enough for everyone to stick around.

The fact that the Jets swept the Oilers with that D, and missing Ehlers for the first 2 games, suggests that the coaches had a decent game plan. They played a pretty smart and disciplined game, all things considered.

Some people here I think would sooner pull their own finger nails out with a pair of pliers before admitting the coaches had a great game plan for the series vs a heavily favorited team and two of the best players in the NHL.

Great series by PMO, coaches created a perfect plan to defeat the Oilers (not saying they expected a sweep).

The biggest turning point was Mo realizing that Scheif vs. McDrai wasnt gonna work in the 3rd period of game 3 and switching his hard matchup to Lowry vs McDrai. Appleton and Copp did an excellent job neutralizing Drai and Lowry was a beast against McD. The he stuck with it for game 4. He noticed it and corrected it. It's funny because he stayed away from it mostly throughout the season as if to lull the Oilers into a false sense of security.

Yep.

I've been as hard on Mo as anyone but that was a well coached series and earned him another year at least.

Going to Morrissey/Demelo and matching up Lowry vs. McDavid whenever possible was a huge move. Also seemed like we played much tighter through the neutral zone than usual. D zone play was notably more switching than strict M2M.

Bring on the next round.

He's still a subpar NHL coach. Even winning a cup wouldn't change that.

It's actually really funny when you start looking around the other boards on this site and realize that literally every fanbase thinks their coach is subpar even if they have won a Cup. It's crazy that every coach in the NHL is terrible, every potential hire is great until they coach your team, then they are terrible. Every fan base echos the exact same shit that it's almost like a hive mind runs this site.

Interesting side bar...

In last nights game they were talking about how star players like McDavid will tell the coach who they are playing with. Not a suggestion or who they "want" to play with, but who they will play with. And the SN staff said this is common.

So how much of that is Paul Maurice having to deal with? Or is it Paul's way?
