And just really like where they are, what they are doing.
Plus if you are a top coach, you are typically compensated very well. The top handful of coaches are paid more than most, if not all, NHL Assistant coaches. Not many of the top CHL coaches transition into NHL Head Coaches. They typically need to take an AHL Head Coach gig or an NHL Assistant Coach gig and work their way into an NHL bench. Maybe one coach every few years makes the direct jump without previous NHL experience?

i would have loved to see what Teddy Nolan could have done if he would have stayed with the Hounds. He always got the best out of his teams.

Mike Vellucci is probably the most underrated of all those mentioned.

He was terrific in both coaching and management. Always top tier results
