This team was great and won a cup before Crawford was here, and they can continue that after he leaves.
This team has proven its capability of winning without top flight goaltending. Frankly, Crawford won't be worth the cap hit he will receive. D-men are more valuable, especially one that has played in the Hawks' system for 5-6 years now.
I love your Clendening and Johns argument though; you turn around and offer up two unproven kids right after highlighting the perils of going with an unproven goaltender.
you don't understand the difference asking unproven guys to play on your bottom pairing and unproven goalies to step up and be a starting goalie?
our D could still win without him as it is with 2-3 guys close to the NHL. Not to mention that there are always some guys out there as UFAs that will take a contract playing for a contender like Rozi did.
sure we can find a new #1 goalie but think about our last 2 UFAs that were supposed to be our starters. Not to mention that it will be about Keith and Seabrook and overall depth more than our #3 D. Don't forget that we won the Cup with 2 different #1 Gs and #3 Ds
Campbell was our #3 back then... just like Niemi was our #1... just like we had a different #2 C
