Gilbert was poor drafting. Word is the Browns didn't even interview him.
It turns out the guy has some real mental/personal problems that keep him from focusing on football. He's just not all that interested in the game. Maybe an interview would have revealed it. Maybe not, but there were teams who moved him down quite a bit after talking to him.
And there were lots of teams that did have him as a first round pick anyway. I've seen too many players that profiled well through the draft that busted out for Cleveland - it's not a coincidence. The team is switching leadership every season, whether it's a coach, management, or QB. Impossible far players to have success in that environment.
