Police: No charges expected in arrest of Flyers' captain

Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux spent the night in an Ottawa Police cell after an incident involving a police officer, sources tell the Sun.
Although few details were immediately available, a source said Giroux was arrested for repeatedly grabbing the buttocks of a male police officer. Alcohol is believed to have been involved.
The incident occurred at a bar in the Byward Market the source said.
Ottawa Police have refused any comment on the incident. Police said they cannot comment unless charges are laid, but several sources did confirm to the Sun Giroux spent the night in jail.

Police: No charges expected in arrest of Flyers' captain
An Ottawa police officer said Wednesday he does not expect Flyers captain Claude Giroux to face any charges for a an alleged butt-grabbing incident on Tuesday night.
Giroux spent Tuesday night in an Ottawa jail cell, according to the Ottawa Sun.
The paper reported Giroux was arrested for repeatedly grabbing the buttocks of a male police officer, and it said alcohol is believed to be involved
"Under Canadian law, I can not give out any information unless charges are made," said Marc Soucy, an Ottawa police spokesman, "and we do not expect the police to make any charges."

Reached via email, deputy NHL commissioner Bill Daly doesn’t think the league will get involved in the matter.
“Not really in a position to commit one way or the other at this point,†Daly said, “but based on what we have been able to determine, it does not appear that this will require any league involvement.â€

Giroux was escorted out and arrested in the parking lot next to the bar around 9 p.m.
Giroux spent the night at the Ottawa police cellblock on Elgin Street before he was released without charge.
