Peak Pronger was better. He won a Hart as a d-man! Chara was a top 3 d-man more seasons (6 to 4 in Norris top 3 finishes).

Pronger wins this poll, but I feel like Chara is under appreciated right now in his "career winding down" period.

Pronger was a top 3 d man in the league every year from 1997 or 98 till 2010 regardless of Norris finishes.




Chara is a great player, but he isn't close to Pronger.

Pronger was better than Chara ever was for a few seasons, besides that I think Chara was every bit as good as Pronger and better a few years. It is those few years that put Pronger ahead though. This is still pretty close.
