CHL teams market value?

Have the CHL teams market value been rising the past few years?

I read an article that the London Knights might be selling and there worth $18million.

That number is absolutely staggering considering the Hunters bought the ICE HOUSE and team for $3.8million about 5 years ago.

I can see there value increasing w/ the JLC being sold out at 9,000 fans/game, very popular website, Memorial Cup '05 and merchandise sales through the roof this year.

What are the market values of some other teams? Is London worth the most?

NOt sure about established franchises but I believe the expansion fee for the newly awarded QMJHL franchises was $3 mil (up from $2 mil last expansion). I can't find the actual price but the Moosehead brewery was looking for $3.5 to $4 mil for the 64% share they sold to Bobby Smith in September 2003.

Well a CHL franchise is one of the most profitable company on NORTH AMERICA ?

What's not to like ?

-The product cost you a penny ! 60$ to 150$ a week
-People pay to see games

There was an excellent article on a french newspaper that talked about how the junior players are slaves & if you calculate the time that is spent on hockey they're not paid the minimum wages.

Add the fact that even if they need to study , they never got the time to do it properly & the junior team staff doesn't care at all.

Also the fact is that less than 1% will go all the way to the NHL.

So 18M$ for a team that doesn't have a lot to pay & receive a lot of revenue, you can understand why the value of a junior team is so HIGH !
