If Enstrom walks as a UFA (very likely), the jets will need a top 4 d-man to play with Buf. We have Niku and Stanley, but they are likely a few years out. Even if Niku made the team next year, he'd likely be in a very sheltered role.
Offer Emelin a contract. Emelin and Buff together would be painful for the opposing team
And painful when someone fast skates by them all game
Top 4 D =/= cheap. I mean, Emelin isn't as bad as people say he is. Maybe I think that because I just watched Alzner for an entire season
Not too sure Enstrom walks away. At his age and injury history and point production that has all but disappeared he might just take a reduced role and pay cut with the Jets. The only franchise he's ever known. He couldn't ask for much on the open market unless it's Sweden. If Enstrom walks as a UFA (very likely), the jets will need a top 4 d-man to play with Buf. There's a guy named Kulikov. He was really good with Myers this year, but seeing how Chiarot is doing in the playoffs, we could try and give a long term try to a Kulikov-Buff pair before starting to spend assets.
I could see Trevor Daley being a good fit. Could probably be had from Detroit for a reasonable price.
I would argue Koekkoek is not ready. Just dont see the defensive side of his game being NHL caliber yet. Still feels like a 6/7, not a 4Slater Koekkoek for Brandon Lemieux? Koekkoek is a RFA so can be signed for cheap, he is ready for a fulltime bottom pair role unfortunately he won't get that opportunity with our depth on the left side. We need a Kunitz replacement for next year so Lemieux can be that physical 4th line LW.
Daley has negative value.
Why? He was solid in Detroit this year (when most werent) and is paid a reasonable salary.
