I suppose Lindros was similar to Chara in the respect that they are/were both kind of unanimously viewed as the most feared guy in the league despite not being classified as fighters.

Lindros in his physical prime vs. Chara in his physical prime.

Who do you think would win?

(PS I suppose I could have made a poll, but I´m an old man who just has enough trouble logging on:))

In a ten-fight series? 1-1-8 for both players. Chara's balance is garbage, and Lindros would have difficulties with Chara's reach.

Lindros. Strength and power are about even, but Chara's balance issues would come into play again.

It wouldn't mater, in the first bout Lindros would take one off his epically soft dome and be out for six months.

Lindros was powerful, not sure how tough and Chara is tough not sure his skills as a fighter would shine through with a guy as strong as Lindros that could expose the balance issues. Would have been fun to watch.

That's one match up I would have liked to see. I don't think Chara fights Lindros to start with. You wouldn't want Lindros very angry. Chara is big and strong, but Lindros was a beast, he would have come after Chara over and over again with hits.. 6'5 with speed that he had.

I'm pretty sure they fought when chara was like a rookie and lindros smoked him, Charas a different animal now, but lindros could basically beat anyone , strongest hockey player Ive ever seen and I don't know if that will ever change

Not a fight, but they did get at each other.

Tough to say. Reach isn't everything in a fight (view Rick Rypien vs. Hal Gill and Boris Valabik as examples). Lindros had a lot of strength, anger in his punches, and good balance. That said, Chara is certainly a capable knuckle-chucker, and certainly better at it than the other two tall players I mentioned.

Concussion issues notwithstanding, I'd probably put my money on Lindros. But with those factored in, I'd probably give Chara the edge.

Lindros, like Chara, is one of those guys that simply just did not lose a fight. Lindros at 6'4" 235 vs. Chara at 6'9" 260lbs. Good bout for sure. I know one thing Lindros wouldn't back away. He is one of those players that I think would have the best shot at knocking Chara down. Probert being the other one. When you are a coke head that is crazy and 6'3" you should never be bet against.

But back to Lindros and Chara. I think Lindros would be the one to initiate it. Chara is smarter than to have Lindros mad at him. But Chara wouldn't back away either. His reach would help him and his leverage over Lindros would help him too. But Lindros just had a hard, hard and rapid punch. One good shot and Chara could topple like Jack and the Beanstalk.

Either way, it would be fun to watch.

Just wondering, did Joe Thornton ever go at it with Chara? Because we all know how Thornton fared in 2003 when Lindros hammered him. I am one of those people that believes that fight with Lindros had Thornton adjust his game and focus more on playmaking and less on fighting.

Lindros more feared than Twist or Probert for example? I don't think so. He was a devastating hitter but I think he's way overrated as a fighter. How many real heavyweights he even fought? Only one I can think of is Mcsorley.

I know Lindros got the better of a young Chris Simon.

Looking at his fight card, there were plenty of other tough guys involved as well:

Odelein
Grimson
Quintal
Boughner
O'Donnell

Kind of hard to tell much from the McSorley scrap; McSorley's jersey was off for half the fight, giving Lindros nothing to hold onto. He absorbed a lot of blows and dished out two heavy ones near the end.

Lindros was as tough as the legend makes him out to be. Many people forget that there was much more to the Lindros/Stevens battle than that one hit, and Lindros got the best of Stevens a few times.

For the purpose of this thread, I'll say Chara would hug Lindros to death. Guy is just not that good a fighter, and he probably wouldn't have the strength advantage over Lindros that he's used to having.

I'd go with this. If one were angry the other other not, the angry one would likely win. If both were in rage mode, could be an exciting draw.

Chara couldn't beat Artyukhin, who has size similar to Lindros and less fighting skills and experience.

Steven was a tremendous hitter, but he was not that strong on the ice. IE a Lucic would definitely have pushed Stevens around infront of the net or in the corners for example.

That said, Lindros was strong as a bull and Chara is a freak of nature. Would have been a good fight.

Lindros was a better fighter than Chara, but Chara is also pretty smart about keeping himself safe. I'm guessing that this would have been a lot less spectacular than we would all wish for.

... and of that list Grimson is the only true heavyweight/goon. Odelein was good, but not elite. Quintal, Boughner, and O'Donnell are puffs by comparison.
