The Bulls are the reigning IL champions and now the Checkers are the reigning AHL Champions. Now if only the top level teams can follow suit

I say it again... consolidate forwards on the Hurricanes into some high-end first line talent so we can open up spots for these guys. Guys on this team that could be NHL forwards next year need more than one hand to count.

If you think about it, this is the culmination of something that has been building steadily for 26 years. Success at the ECHL level, jump to the AHL, buildup of the organization till they finally broke through with what has to be one of the all time great seasons in the AHL.
It’s a huge deal for hockey in Charlotte. Something close to 50 years of minor league hockey there, and this is the summit.

Thanks to the current Canes management team and ownership, RF, the Checkers ownership and management, and the scouts as well. It takes a lot of people for something like this to be put together.
I hope Ron Francis is also ejoying a celebratory beverage wherever he is. His stamp is on this team top to bottom. 5 years after a commitment to building for the long-term, a roster of prospects primarily in their early 20s just went wire to wire.
Kuokkanen barely exists in my mind anymore. This team and prospect pool is so deep.
I’m tempted to make a main board thread. We just had one of the most successful seasons as an organization probably ever.
