After missing all of 2020 and having a shortened 2021 season they definitely want to get a full season in

The other 2 teams are Calgary and Edmonton as they won't be in a legal strike position until May 18 I believe.

Summary of the outstanding issues

Compared to the leaked offer last week (10 year agreement with no guaranteed increase to the salary cap among others)... they should be able to bridge the gap once cooler heads prevail

What is the reason to strike/lockout for the CFL? I mean this is not a good look for a league that is barely hanging on. It's a dead league in the greater Toronto area for sure but it seems to be viable in other Canadian markets.

Details of the league's offer and the ones the PA has an issue with

Term — The CFL is proposing a seven-year term for the new collective agreement. The players have requested that the deal expire 30 days before the opening of training camp in 2029, as opposed to the day before the opening of camps.

PA wants 5 years unless their other issues are address

Definition of revenue — Will use definition from previous CBA which gives union audit rights. The union and accountant have access to all financial records for review and audit.

PA wants more items included in the revenue like concessions and Grey Cup. But the revenue to players is 25% of new revenue (to be added to the flat cap), so it wouldn't be a big number. Shouldn't be a hill to die on

Padded Practices — Teams may have one hour of padded practice per week in one day during the Club’s regular season to a maximum of twelve.

This is being reintroduced and PA wants medical coverage for this. Seems like a reasonable ask.

One interesting items in this and which appears both sides agreed on

Timing of season — The CFL can start the season up to 30 days earlier, commencing with the 2023 season.

That would mean the season could start as early as the 2nd week of May and have the Grey Cup in late October instead of the current June to November set up.

They're talking again and there could be an announcement or update later today.

First pre season game is Monday so there will need to be an agreement today, possibly early tomorrow to keep this intact.

What a **** gong show. Most concessions the league has ever given the PA and it's rejected over changes to the ratio which are very minor.

We'll see what happens next

League gives a new 'final' offer to address the issues in yesterday's ratification rejection

Including a ratification bonus which wasn't discussed by either party before and a simplification of the ratio change. Will have 7 Canadian starters which one will be a naturalized American.

PA has until Thursday midnight to accept or camps will close. First pre season game is Friday

This is such a cluster***k that it's possible we could see a strike and a lockout in the same year.

Take 2

Starting ratio proposed is now 7 Canadian starters with 2 naturalized Canadians up to 49% of snaps next year with the league having the rights to increase to 3 starting in 2024.

Ratification bonus increased from 1 million to 1.25 mil.

Voting apparently happening now. It should pass....or else....

Edit: It's been ratified
